Throughout history women have changed the world in large and small ways, and continue to do so today. However, women’s stories and contributions too often go untold, their voices unheard, their impact overlooked. In 2021, Switzerland marks 50 years since women gained the right to vote. This platform aims to amplify these voices, and to create spaces for important conversations. Discover the stories of 50 icons, trendsetters and pioneers. From arts to politics, science and innovation, explore the achievements of just some of the women who have helped to shape society, in Switzerland and beyond.
‘Women of Switzerland: a country in 50 portraits’ is a project of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, initiated by Presence Switzerland and the Embassy of Switzerland in London, in cooperation with the Swiss Embassies in Berlin, Madrid, Moscow, Paris, Rome, Tel Aviv, Vienna and Washington.
