Wheelchair racer Edith Wolf-Hunkeler claimed gold, silver and bronze medals in the course of her remarkable career. She won 36 international medals and 60 national titles.
Born in 1972, Edith Wolf-Hunkeler suffered an accident in 1994 that left her partially paralysed. Soon after rehabilitation she discovered parasports and quickly became a professional sportswoman. She competed at a range of distances from 400m to marathon-length events and is a multiple World and Paralympic Games winner. She also has eight major marathon titles to her name, having won the women's wheelchair events in Berlin, Boston and New York several times between 2002 and 2011. She retired from elite sports in 2015, but remains one of the most admired and inspiring sportswomen of Switzerland.
