Maja Hoffmann is a contemporary art collector and a patron and producer of international art, film, publishing and environmental projects. Hoffmann founded the Luma Foundation in 2004, which focuses on the direct relationship between art, culture, human rights, environmental topics, education and research, supporting cultural projects worldwide. In 2013 Hoffmann founded Luma Arles, an experimental cultural complex and creative campus in Arles, France. Luma Arles provides artists with opportunities to experiment in the production and presentation of new work in close collaboration with other artists, curators, scientists, innovators and audiences. Hoffmann serves as a Board member of many internationally renowned cultural institutions. Besides her work in the field of contemporary art, she is also committed to the preservation of the environment through her work with Foundations such as MAVA or Tour du Valat.
