Chemical engineer, *1988
Samantha Anderson is a chemical engineer who turns PET waste into raw material, contributing to a cleaner environment. Originally from Canada, Anderson graduated from the Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne in the Valais with a Ph.D from the Chemical Science and Engineering Institute. She co-founded and manages DePoly SA, an enhanced recycling company that focuses on depolymerizing PET plastic waste into its two main chemical components. These raw materials are then sold back to industry, so that companies which use PET plastic have access to a sustainable source of raw materials instead of sourcing them from the petroleum industry. Selected by MassChallenge Switzerland in 2020 as one of the twelve most innovative startups, DePoly SA has resolved to close the PET production loop and to reduce our dependence on oil products.
