Ursula Meier

Ursula Meier is a French-Swiss film director whose work moves and inspires film lovers around the world. Born in 1971 in Besançon, she studied film in Belgium. Her short films quickly brought her to the attention of the film industry, but it was her first feature film Home that earned her a place amongst the big names of cinema. This bold feature was selected in La Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008 and received numerous international awards. Ursula Meier’s next film Sister had the same impact and received the Silver Bear Special Prize during the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival. Like Home in 2010, the film represented Switzerland at the Oscars in 2013. It won three Swiss Film Awards, including Best Picture. In 2018 Ursula Meier was president of the jury for the Golden Camera Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
